The Wise Guides Itinerary for the Perfect Day Skiing or Snowboarding in Jackson Hole

It’s easy to do when visiting a mountain town for the first time: you spend weeks navigating websites and trail maps to figure out the best skiing and riding itinerary for your crew. You spend countless hours on Yelp looking for only the four- and five-star spots to grab a bite. You do you best Googling “secret” and “local” insider info only to get home from your vacation and someone asks, “did you ski this run?” or “did you aprés at….?” and you realize you blew it.

We got you. Maximizing your time in Jackson Hole is key, and our Wise Guides share some insider knowledge on how to have the perfect trip. Consider it a one-stop-shop gift to you (you’re welcome).

Pro-tip #1: Make sure to purchase your lift tickets in advance to be sure you can ski on the days you’re here, plus beat the ticket line.

MORNIN’ PREP

Swing into the MMM Café starting at 7am to fuel up on for a big day on the hill. Who doesn’t love a delicious, warm breakfast and fresh brewed coffee to start the day? Our grab ‘n go breakfast is perfect for those on-the-move. Then, catch our free skier shuttle that runs direct routes to Teton Village at the below times:

Run #1: 7:25 AM

Run #2: 8:45 AM

Run #3: 10:05 AM

Pro-tip #2: Catch the 7:25 or 8:45am free shuttle to Teton Village to ensure first tracks (sign up the night before to reserve your seat). Also, check out the Winter Transportation Guide for more information on winter travel.

GET FAMILIAR WITH THE MOUNTAIN

Pro-tip #3:  Download the JH Insider app for up to minute snow conditions, maps, contacts and trail status.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers complimentary intermediate mountain tours every morning at 9:30am – a great way to get familiar with the mountain.  Although it’s an intermediate tour, the guides can point out the best steeps, tree runs and groomers.  The tour allows you to find your favorite run on the 1st day, rather than stumbling upon it on your last day.  Meet in front of the Walk Festival Hall for this tour. It takes about 1.5 hours, and then you’re free explore.

Pro-tip #4:  Stay mid-mountain and above all day to avoid crowds at the base, and to get the best snow conditions.

LUNCH

Hangry much? If you’re like us, you love food. But, with all that beautiful powder we know it’s hard to break for a bite. JHMR has some great options on the mountain including Casper Restaurant (we’re talking burrito bar AND full-service bar) and Piste (think lively, inviting bar scene and killer valley views), so you can ski in and be back on the runs in a jif. Note: Be sure and check the JH Insider app or check the website to see what restaurants are operating.

Pro-tip #5:  Take a late lunch to beat the rush and give yourself enough time to take a few afternoon runs before aprés time!

APRÉS SKI

Aside from the early morning groomed runs, this is our fave time of day. Yes, aprés ski is most definitely a thing, and it’s no doubt the perfect way to end a perfect day on the mountain. Choose from your classic, western-themed, live-music and rowdy (mostly after 10pm) Mangy Moose and the classy, rustic-chic Spur Restaurant & Bar. Both of which are our picks for the best aprés bars in Teton Village.

Pro-tip #6:  Mountain Modern’s direct shuttle leaves Teton Village at 4pm and 5pm for the fastest trip back to town.  The START Bus also runs several trips from the Village to Town if you find yourself aprés-skiing later than expected.

BACK TO TOWN

Kick off your boots, store your gear and freshen up back at your room before taking the 3 minute walk to Town Square, where you can fill all of your shopping, dining and nightlife desires. Keep the party going and make sure to visit the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for live music, check out the iconic Silver Dollar at the Wort Hotel (and more live music), and Local – a great spot for dinner and a “local’s” favorite.
