Best Bucket List Vacation Spot: Jackson Hole

If you’re headed to Jackson Hole for a vacation in 2020, you’re coming to one of the best bucket list spots in the nation! In fact, Jackson Hole has been named the #2 spot for Best Places to Visit in Wyoming. (We don’t mind being #2 as Yellowstone National Park is #1.) We’re proud to be your home base while you visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, which also made the list. Here are some must-see spots while you visit Jackson!

The Tetons & Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Driving or flying into the valley is impressive with the breathtaking view of the Tetons, but to get up close and personal, take the Jackson Hole Mountain Aerial Tram, also known as Big Red, to the very top of Rendezvous Mountain. Located in Teton Village, the tram takes you 4,139 vertical feet where you can grab some famous waffles at Corbet’s Cabin and in the summer, hike one of the numerous trails along the ridge.

Town Square Elk Antler Arches

If this will be your first time visiting Jackson, head downtown to Town Square and take a picture under one of the elk antler arches. There’s an arch on each corner of the downtown park. Take a picture during the day with the towering pine trees as a backdrop but then return at night when the arches are twinkling with thousands of white lights that create a truly magical scene.

National Elk Refuge

Seeing a large herd of elk all in one place is an incredible experience. The National Elk Refuge is the winter home to the Jackson Elk Herd, numbering close to 11,000 elk. It’s not unlikely to see several thousand in the valley. Even in the summer months, you can get a glimpse of these majestic animals as they migrate between mountain ranges.

A Taste of the West

Jackson has a rich western heritage and we’re proud to share it with visitors. The Mountain Man Rendezvous is a pre-1840 fur trader reenactment which will take you into another time. The Jackson Hole Rodeo is an action pack evening under the stars watching the best cowboys and cowgirls compete. Don’t miss the Jackson Hole Shootout, National Museum of Wildlife Art, Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, and Covered Wagon Cookout to make your experience complete.

Plan your vacation to include these activities and you’ll want to come back again and again!
